HTC Vive Accessories – The must haves and the non-essentials

Because HTC Vive is one of the leading VR headsets or the leading VR headset right now we need to know the accessories that goes with it. Some HTC Vive accessories are really necessary and some you can live without it.

If you are comfortable with your set up then there is no need to get these add on accessories but if you are looking to experience more immersion and comfort to your present situation it doesn’t hurt to try to get one of the following accessories:

THE MUST HAVES

  • vive trackerVive Tracker – Is a device designed specially for the HTC Vive. The function of the Vive tracker is to serve as a sensor for any object used for a specific VR application or game. For example, it can be attached to a pair of boxing gloves, or just plain gloves in case a game involves punching somebody. The Vive Tracker is tracked by the motion sensors and the motion of the gloves translates to the punching movement within the trackable virtual space permitted. Or it can be attached to a gun or a bat, sword, etc. The idea is to replace the motion controllers for specific tasks.

  • HTC Vive Deluxe Audio StrapHTC Vive Deluxe Audio Strap – Sometimes there are situations during a game where there is a need to look down or to jump and that specific movement or jolt misaligned your headset a bit and you wish it was more rigid. The audio strap will do just that and it comes with the headphones.

While the original nose rest that comes with the headset will fit most it is a fact that we have different sizes of noses that is why we need to customize the nose rest to our specific size. Light will creep in from below the space where the nose rest is too narrow or to wide.

  • leap motionLeap Motion – For a more satisfying experience in VR you have to have this accessory in your arsenal. Although not needed in some games it is worth the experience to have your pair of hands in front of you without the need of gloves for tracking.

  • htc vive 3in1 cableHTC Vive 3-in-1 cable – To make your life easier when using the HTC Vive headset you must purchase the 3-in-1 cable. I don’t know why they did not design the first one like this but the new one is definitely less burdensome. Wrapping the cables as one is a great idea. Ahm…Couldn’t think of that in the first place?

  • HTC Vive Lens InsertsHTC Vive Lens Inserts – For those wearing prescription eyeglasses this will come in real handy. You don’t have to wear your own glasses anymore underneath your Vive headset, which is quite of a hassle. There is a company called VR Lens Lab which creates this wonderful lenses for the Vive which will free you from your glasses while playing or using your headset.
